CEREC – A Quick Overview
Short for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics (also referred to as CERamic REConstruction) CEREC basically provides dentists with a more economic way to restore a damaged tooth or teeth in just one visit. We use high quality ceramic material that can have the same color and shape as the rest of your teeth.
How It Works
CEREC uses computer aided design (CAD) / computer aided manufacturing (CAM) technologies. It contains a camera, computer and milling equipment in one innovative instrument.
Dr. Peterson will use a special camera to get an accurate image of your damaged tooth. It is then transferred on a computer screen where we will use CAD to design your dental restoration. Then using CAM, we will create the restoration while you wait. This will only take a few minutes. Once it’s ready, we will bond the new restoration onto your tooth’s surface.
